partly tamed

I am not in a mood to write up lengthy essays now and will try to keep it as concise as possible. Simply put, the end result remains a half baked potato and I remain un-satiated.1430.

bAbY gIrL

YA GLORY SHALT BE MINE…’, CRONE SMILED MOCKINGLY, AS SHE MINCED OFF, WITH THE EFFACED FIFTY PAISE, PAST THE JAM TOWARDS THE CROSSING.

FRENZIED, I GOT DOWN FROM MY MERC TO HEAR A SHARP SCREECH AT THE CROSSING.

SHE WAS MOWED DOWN DEAD BY A FASTENING TRUCK.

MY MOBILE READ ‘IT’S A bAbY gIrL, SIR’.

its the climb

just heard this song "The climb" from Hannah montana-The movie on star movies.
Its almost the same as what I feel right now. Perhaps I can not present my situation better than the exact lyrics of the song.

I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

Life is a climb and the view is great.

playing a conneisseur

i have just walked out of the cinema n im dying to record my judgment on "3 idiots".
"The film goes by name, it's idiotic".trust me,if not read on.( read on, even if you do... you will know why)

to start with, the film drew "inspiration" from "five point some one" , a novel of its kind by chetan bhagat.

the novel:
for those who are not acquainted with the novel, here is an insight to it. (hey, i wish i could rhapsodize the entire novel for you. but you know i can't. for master pieces can be made only once.) it's a story of 3 idiots who make their way to IIT Delhi, Hari,Ryan and Raju(I don't remember the name of this character from the novel,so used the name from the film).

ryan is impeccable.born affluent, bored of usual system of education and bereft of parental attention,he loves machines more than books.

hari, "FATSO" is a usual happy go lucky.this character of the novel to which chetan is personally associated with, is a usual teenager from a middle class family.not to mention ,hari is stumped by the charisma of Ryan right on their first day of their ragging.

raju is more or less the same raju as you see in the movie. this guy is born in to a family bitten by poverty and is dying to "make it big" in life for his family.

prof cherian is HOD of the mechanical engineering dept, a martinet. you can imagine him as AB in mohabbatein.

now the story. the 3 guys become good friends and do all possible mess in the campus. they boze, bunk the classes, copy assignments, .. name it.you must read the novel to experience this. in short "they break the rules"
all the three dud in the exams with a cgpa of 5.dejected raju leaves the group after the first year to join a league of crammers, only to join them back after an year.

anecdotes of campus hangouts pass by.at the end of third year the three of them boze every day, screwing up each semester. hari falls in love with cherian's daughter. and one day,he is caught by cherian red-handed screwing his daughter. the drama reaches a peak when the group is indicted of burgling the semester's test paper and hari lies to have received the "keys of the office from cherian's daughter" in front of the faculty, on being threatened of rustication.

neha, unhappy about the calumny, breaks up with hari. the friends are suspended for a semester. it takes 2 months to recoup for the defeated raju, after he jumps off the ninth floor of the building (in to a pool).

the group finally makes their way out of this ramble and patches up for the lost semester by working under a professor who understands the psyche of students well.

at the end, raju and hari settle down in corporates while ryan prefers to stay back in iiT to work out an intern under the prof.

the movie:
the film was meant to be about 3 idiots and not two. . now, c'mon you can't be five pointer by topping a class.
aamir has snatched every positive trait from each character of the novel and knitted his own. he plays a ryan, that's understandable at first gaze.but then he messes with HOD , flirts with his daughter.
damn man, this was hari's job, i mean madhavan was meant to fall for kareena.hey, hey .. but its not that the movie downplays the crux of the novel, its just the unnecessary apotheosis of aamir khan that makes me decry.

what on earth makes the director of the movie call a guy who tops every semester, has innovative streak and stands out to become the best student of the institute 'an idiot'? "laugh at you, hirani". i suppose the college was co-ed and no co-ed college allows a student to bathe bare in open air. that's disgusting. :)
put that a side. let's say he was called an idiot for his bohemian attitude and messing up with the profs.

the film would have been at least an acceptable package if it would have been wound up by three quarters of the total length. protagonist does an obstetrician with a vacuum cleaner... woo ooh ha ha.. height of 'idiocy' . the title seemed apt now. i guess this makes sense in times of such emergency but the director drags it up to a ridiculous length and "all is well" baby kicks are wacky...... enough i thought.
and finally the phuksukh episode, came as a special package adding woes to the already prolonged film. it just came as an embarrassment that

despite all such flaws, i say its a good movie.........eeks i make a u turn to my interpretation now.. here is why i do that, its becoz of aamir. a man nearing 40s manages to look like a teenager. can you imagine? yes he does and he did it well, per se. though he dons all possible positive aspects, he carries them off with ease and the hollowness created in other characters of the play has been carefully filled up.for example, madhavan is diverted from the main track ,as a guy disinterested in engineering and some one aspiring to be a wild life photographer. to wind up the movie is a hilarious package with certain drag-ons but on the whole is worth to watch.

go for it.

Color of ink

Last thursday Prakash told me that this was one of the very few films which is worth its salt to find a place amongst the so called brainy movies ,(after the trilogy of course.)

And so i did download this movie. It took me 7 hours to download this movie and my expectations quadrupled , octapuled :). And after day long work I came back home in a hurry , started the movie in a haste and waited to see if it did work out.

The movie starts off with "F**K" (thrice), gets bizarre for some while, crawls back to track after some time ; goes boom and then pisses off.

It goes this way,

A father aims to soar,
and a baby craves for care.
she's got none to play,
n dad's got no time to spare.
no room for life n no one to share.
bills now matter n bills now stay

He thinks,

coz bills now stay n bills' gonna pay,
no one to beg and no place for shame

But dreams they come n dreams they go,
dad'z got dreams then ;his baby'z got now.
Lights they turn off and dreams they come,
some very sweet ones n some night mares.

as dad made a boo boo , emma is at stake,
n no one to blame dad, coz shelly is no more.
baby's got tears but dad's got none,
he cares a damn n he takes no abuse.

to b contd

Magadheera - Review

Clap, clap, clap ..This flick of Rajamouli is here to stay for atleast times to come. The ace director with the midas touch, has now gained enough expertise in moulding clay to a masterpiece. while it is not uncommon from his previous flicks that the protoganists in his works are erected with a "Hercules" sort of image, this one is promised to be different. With lots of expectations skying around,"magadheera" had to have an intricate weave of art and commerical elements and trust me, mouli has work out the spell yet again.

the film starts off being extremely dull, continues to get even more boring when the big boy gets in with a rather ugly animation of his earlier dance works.one starts to feel sensible in the film only when the unacceptable pony tail is unwound.only before the intermission, one gets to feel the heat.that's when mouli takes the real reigns of the 'horses' and the film takes a u turn.though expected and prior interpretable due to our experience with a bunch movies on reincarnation in our kitty, this one proves to be different.

each frame after the intermission is a visual grandeur.mouli mixes with ease, the kingsman ship of the rajputana with our lingo.each time,"bhairava" delivers a word of promise, mouli does not miss a chance to capture the trust levied upon the royal warrior, the struggle ,the emotions there after.

"when i promise, consider it done.thou shall die fullfilling it and shall not return with out" this has been the most special part of mouli from the begining ,but this time, he excels in a curious mix of historical ,commercial, romantic, reincarnatic elements.it has to be noted that in contrast to his previous movies, mouli has a fairly "actable" role for the female role in this movie.kajol though delivers an acceptable level of competence and carries the role with ease.

sri hari is class apart and is one of the extremely talented yet unutilised actors in the telugu cinema.the scene that stands as a cherry on the cake is the one in which the lead tarnishes the pride of sher khan by knocking down a hundered men in a go.the count down touches hundred and the film is a hit.keeravani plays on some catchy numbers with no life , but go a long way in to the story line."bangaru kodi" lacks original melody, kick and no way a match to the original.

Ram charan how ever needs an extremely special mention.mouli has created almost a tradition of extreme elevation of the lead at some point of the film, where he captures the very pulse of the every one and you will not dare to move from the edge of your seat.mouli rises the stature of charan from an unscruplous, almost tribal looking 'racer' to an unimaginable peaks of royalty.

though it must be accepted that the attempts made by mouli and his crew are in no way a match to the works of narnia, 300 and gladiator , it has to be kept in mind that the budget constraints on the shoulders of mouli are too heavy and it is not practical for a regional flick to stretch beyond this.despite of the charges of plagiarism, comparisons with 'the myth' ,"magadheera" is a full paisa vasool movie.go for it.
